British Institute of Embalmers
From this beginning the British Embalming Society (BES) was formed in 1905, which became part of the Undertakers association of the day in 1915. However the embalming interests of the BES became merged within the British Undertakers Association and by the mid nineteen twenties pressure was underway for a separate embalming organisation based upon the sanitation interests prevalent with the two governmental attempts by funeral directors to become state registered in 1925 and 1926.
Thus the British Institute of Embalmers was formed in 1927.
